Channeled Lessons in Psychic Development 6: On Personal Responsibility and Working with Spirit Guides
As my relationship with my spirit guides has gotten more tangible and
clear, I have been blessed almost daily with wonderful little
synchronicities, inside jokes, and even seemingly magical opportunities
that have solidified my trust in their presence and help. Our
communication is a two-way street. As we learn to work with our guides
and these things start happening, it can be tempting to think of them as
helicopter parents, “fetches” or fairy godmothers. However, their true
interest lies in our spiritual growth, encouraging us to become more
loving, forgiving, joyful, focused, self-actualized, grateful and
connected to Source/All-That-Is. As such, it is not always in our best
interest for them to smooth over every bump in the road of our lives.
Sometimes, when I ask them about future events, they will demure to give
me information, not only because this would be in conflict with free
will, but because sometimes, the unfolding of our life’s events
processes karma and teaches us more powerfully when they reach us by
surprise. How would we even develop true trust within ourselves past a
rudimentary level if we were always reassured and forewarned?
True spirit guides will always encourage you to make your own decisions, take responsibility for your life and use your own judgment. Yes, they can help us, provide us with insight, sage advice, and at times, information we might otherwise not have access to, but if our life were a ship, we would be the captain at its helm, and they, the dedicated and highly skilled crew. They have, in fact, used this particular metaphor with me on more than one occasion, and compared one’s focus and willpower to “filling the sails” of your ship. The important thing is to take responsibility by formulating a plan of action for your life - to chart the course of the ship - and accept that even if we cannot always control our circumstances, we can control our goals.
“When you become the steerer of your own ship, nobody will have the ability to thwart your progress. Be open to the possibilities that lie ahead by choosing a course. You need to focus on formulating a plan. […] Keep in mind that you are in full control of the course of your ship, as opposed to the weather it sails on. When you find yourself in harmony with the way in which you engage with the world, we will help you fulfill your destiny. The charting of the course is up to you. Plan ahead for the weather, but do not let it dictate your destination. We stand ready to help you formulate your plan of action. We are your crew.”
When was the last time you took a moment to focus on your life goals, and formulate a plan for achieving them? How have your spirit guides helped you fulfill your plans? How do they let you know they are there for you, day to day?
