Channeled Lessons in Psychic Development 14: On The Act and Significance of Blessing

“Make a conscious decision to direct your thoughts from a mindset of being blessed. Bless your worries. Bless everything you have created.” - Natalie

Today, I’d like to talk about the act, as well as the practical and spiritual significance, of blessing. Blessing yourself. Blessing others. Blessing situations. Blessing creations. One thing blessing another. It’s a word that pops up quite often in my channelings, in both a literal and figurative sense. In my guides’ shorthand, it signifies not only the ceremonial act of blessing someone or something, but can also mean that one thing benefits another thing (as in “Do this now, and it will bless this other thing down the road.”)

The act of blessing is also brought up by my guides in situations in which my clients find themselves in undesired circumstances, in which case it is advised as a first step towards healing. Blessing, in this context, can trigger a spiritual shift that dissolves or neutralizes a negative attachment. It can be an act of self-forgiveness, when all other courses of action seem overwhelming. This is where the idea of “blessing your mess” comes in. In a sense, everything you have created in your life “belongs” to you, even if that creation came out a bit lopsided. So, when you bless it in all its imperfection, you embrace it, and free up the energy you invested in fretting over it to reimagine and re-create something new. (More on blessing as an act of creation in itself, in a moment.) Thus, one can think of the act of blessing as serving many purposes: of forgiveness, healing and neutralizing, as well as of promoting, energizing, encouraging, and expressing gratitude.

One of my favorite things about one of the many cultural spheres I have closely interacted with in my life - that of Orthodox Judaism, is that people are always blessing one another, especially at gatherings such as weddings, circumcisions and wakes. Simpler blessings over things such as food, or upon seeing a long-lost friend, also promote an acknowledgment of gratitude. There is an idea of the active expression of good will towards another human being, of wishing for them all the good things we wish for ourselves, and of recognizing the divine in the mundane, as being an act of healing the world. On an energetic level, I have found this to be very true. I have adopted a habit of taking time in my channeling preparations to pray for the enlightenment, joy, and fulfillment of all creation, and it is one of the moments in my meditations where I feel most expansive and uplifted. It creates a sense of abundance, and of unity. When one of us is uplifted, we all are. This is one of the basic functions of the act of blessing: To raise the vibration of ourselves, of all those with whom we associate, and of the world itself, through scaling up the emotional spectrum of love and gratitude.

Another use of the word “bless” in my guides’ shorthand is when they use it to signify the idea that any thoughtful gesture is a way of blessing those around us. In fact, any act we do in relation to anything else can either detract from what we wish to create, or bless it. This is a good thing to keep in mind, every day. Once, I asked my guides’ opinion if I should wear a particular, pretty piece of clothing to a night out, and Salvador said: “Yes, it will bless your boyfriend.” I laughed! (To clarify, my guides would never mean this in a sexist, objectifying way. Salvador was merely implying that making myself feel beautiful would not only make me happy, but promote attraction and affection between me and my company.) So, you can think of any act of kindness towards yourself, or others, as a blessing. You can, at any moment, choose to bless or deny blessings of any encounter or endeavor. But isn’t it easy to love yourself when you can recognize and activate yourself as a source of blessings?

When we bless something, we align ourselves energetically with it, whether through recognizing it as a worthy thing already existing in the world, which by blessing, we uplift into harmony with its divine origin, or through investing our thoughts, emotional energy and words into its creation. We embrace it. We accept it. We envision it. And in voicing our intention to create what it is we are blessing, we are initiating the process of manifesting matter from spirit, and claiming it as our own. Think about that. When you bless yourself, you are claiming an act of creation, healing, or expansion for yourself. When you bless others, you are claiming your power to partake in the creation of their happiness, as well. What a wonderful thought!
