Channeled Lessons in Psychic Development 13: Salvador’s Advice on Developing Evidential Mediumship
Today, I’d like to share some advice my spirit guide, Salvador, recently brought through about how to develop better as an evidential medium communicating messages between people and their loved ones who have passed on.
A bit of context: I started out studying mediumship at a development group that was broadly focused on different modalities, including not only mental and physical mediumship, but even some shamanistic practices such as past life regression meditations. Evidential mediumship (defined as mediumship that brings through specific evidence of the continuity of consciousness after death) was part of the curriculum, but the parameters of the discipline remained initially somewhat fuzzy to me, as our exercises were interspersed with other practices that seemed too impressionistic to convince me of their being grounded in practical, verifiable reality. In retrospect, I realize now that this is why it took me a while to trust what I was receiving from Spirit. Once I was able to ground my work in evidential terms, and the details coming through began to be confirmed, it was easier to gain confidence.
I eventually ended up moving on to other learning environments. However, even as I was able to work up my consistency in evidential mediumship, I quickly realized that I tuned in most naturally to a slightly different frequency band of the spirit world: that of my spirit guides, whom I had been aware of since beginning to study psychic healing work in my early teenage years. When I focused on that side of my development, the volume and quality of information that was coming through reached a whole new level. As a result, most of my professional work as a medium has, so far, been more focused on channeling my spirit guides than communicating with the dead. (To clarify: People’s loved ones will sometimes come through spontaneously in connection with spirit guide readings, if there is a specific need for it. It’s just a slightly different wavelength to tune into, and the guides will “escort” the spirit into the session.)
Lately, I’ve been missing doing the work of evidential mediumship, and have decided to return to honing my skills. So, I asked for some advice from my guides.
I have pieced together parts of two different channeling sessions to bring through this lesson in its entirety. These principles can be easily applied to any kind of psychic development, and are sure to be useful to everyone pursuing their gifts!
Salvador says:
“Trust the beautiful communications of Spirit. Joyfully trust the process! Everyone has the potential to connect with Spirit through the heart. It is through directing the attention of the heart that your psychic sensitivity manifests, secrets are made known, and evidence of the afterlife is brought through. Accordingly, it is our mission as your spirit guides to teach you to seek out the energy of the heart in this way.
During a reading, focus all of your energy on fueling the communication. Do not doubt that you have all the helpers in Spirit you need in order to do this work. When you smile and expect the spirit world to answer, it does. Happiness opens up the communication!
Thank your spirit guides with a peaceful heart. Work on consistency, forging a collaboration with your spiritual helpers through practice and repetition. Then, energize the process through your excitement! Study mediumship with patience and joy.
Choose the people you learn with wisely: Find the best possible development group for yourself. If you wish to work professionally as a medium, align your words with this aspiration, talk about it with the people around you, and formulate a plan to make it happen. Keep working at it, and open up to receive clairvoyance.
To receive wisdom and enjoy success, study the art of mediumship with dedication, and focus on evidence. Test the science of it! Receive spirit in your mind with sincere pleasure. Improve your clairaudience. The development of your extrasensory perception is important here. When you quiet the mind, you allow yourself to return to the influence of Spirit. The mind, however, is sensitive to doubt. If it gets in the way, remember your previous successes, and with them, excite your joy. Then, concentrate on the answers you are receiving, and be patient. Feel at peace.
Now, relax, and be the love that you seek. Allow your heart to warm up!”
On that note, one thing that really warms my heart about this channeling is the familiar emphasis on trust, gratitude and collaboration - but also on testing the process. The trust issues I grappled with in my early days of learning were probably my biggest hurdle to overcome. However, as in our friendships in the physical world, the trust between us and our spiritual allies must be built over time, as a two-way street. When we put our skepticism to work in a constructive way - by applying it to seeking evidence, we anchor our trust all the more firmly into the relationship.
How do you teach yourself to trust in Spirit? Think of ways in which you can take your psychic and mediumistic development to the test in your daily life, and take joy communicating with the spirit world, through the heart. It is your birthright!
Love,
Emily and Salvador
